Jessica is assistant professor of photography and has over 10 years of experience in photography, videography, graphic design, and teaching. She earned her Master of Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts in New York and her bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University. She and her husband live in Shelby, relocating from Charlotte, N.C., where they lived for six years during his general surgery residency. They have two children: Lillian and Declan. Maloney loves to bake, eat Mexican food, and sing along to Broadway musicals.

Dr. Luedeman has over 30 years of professional and academic communications experience—including a long-term stint as head of university communications at USC Upstate and the management of her own communications firm, LL Communications. Her research interests include collective memory, ethics in public relations and propaganda, grounded theory, the Kennedys, the prolific influence of music in various contexts as well as media effects and the changing landscape of news delivery. Background

Powell has over 35 years of professional communications experience working in radio, both traditional broadcasting and online. He has work for three different radio station over his broadcasting career. He began teaching at GWU as an adjunct in 1999 primarily teaching in the degree completion program. Powell began teaching in the Communications and New Media department in 2005. He joined the department as a full-time faculty member in 2017 when the campus online radio station was fully integrated into the department.
