news-category: GWU Commencement ¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ Recognizes Over 500 Summer and Fall 2022 Graduates By Office of University Communications On November 30, 2022 Nearly 300 Set to Participate in Ceremony on Dec. 10 to Celebrate Conferring of Degrees BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ will officially award over 500 degrees for the 2022 Summer and Fall Semesters, and nearly 300 graduates will participate in Commencement Exercises on Saturday, Dec. 10. The ceremony is set to begin at 9 a.m. in the Paul Porter Arena of the Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center, located on the campus of ¹ú²úÓ´Ó´. The ceremony will commemorate the achievements of students in traditional undergraduate, degree completion, and graduate programs of study who completed their degrees in the 2022 Summer and Fall semesters. Doctoral candidates from the College of Education and the College of Health Sciences will receive their hoods. The Senior Scholastic Achievement Award and Degree Completion Program Academic Award will also be presented. The commencement speaker is Dr. A. Hope Williams, who is in her 30th year as president of North Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (NCICU), the statewide office of 36 private, nonprofit colleges and universities in North Carolina. She works closely with the State of North Carolina and the federal government, and with North Carolina public K-12 and higher education sectors to address education and related public policy and funding issues. In addition, she oversees fundraising for student scholarships and grants, professional development opportunities for campus leaders, as well as the development of collaborative programs for the benefit of NCICU campuses. Williams received her undergraduate degree from Duke University, a Master of Public Administration from North Carolina State University and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After the ceremony, recognition services will follow at three locations across campus for each of the four Colleges and the School of Divinity. The locations are: School of Divinity: Dover Chapel at 11 a.m. Godbold College of Business: Tucker Student Center at 11 a.m. College of Health Sciences: Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center at 11 a.m. College of Arts and Sciences: Tucker Student Center at 1 p.m. College of Education: Lutz-Yelton Convocation Center at 1 p.m. The 9 a.m. ceremony will also be streamed on The University’s .
