Join ¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ for GWU Night on Aug. 11 During the 96th American Legion World Series

Last year on GWU night at the American Legion World Series, Head Softball Coach Bailey Wigness had the honor of throwing out the first pitch.

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C.—¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ and American Legion officials are hosting on Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. during the 96th American Legion World Series (Aug. 10-15). While recognizing Cleveland County students who spend part of their summer in programs to increase their knowledge, GWU invites alumni and fans to celebrate ¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ night at Keeter Stadium in Shelby, N.C.

The ¹ú²úÓ´Ó´ Marching Bulldogs and Cheerleading Squad will entertain as fans enter the stadium for the 7 p.m. game. They will also perform on the field. Scott Merritt, new head coach of the GWU women’s basketball team, will throw out the first pitch. 

Students from four summer programs will receive free tickets for the 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. games. These are Community Math Academy, Cleveland County Schools Summer Camps at elementary schools, the Library System’s Summer Reading Programs, and Cleveland County Arts Council’s Summer Art Camps.
